We have compiled this information page to successfully prepare you for your POST
Trip. Please share this information with your parents or guardians. If you have
questions about this process, please contact us at 607-255-0144 or
email us at post@cornell.edu.
Dates
POST begins Sunday, August 17 and ends early Friday morning, August 22 before
Cornell’s New Student Orientation begins. The first evening of POST is devoted
to group orientation and team building for the upcoming week. During the week,
you and your team will work at different service sites. Free time and evenings
are spent getting to know the entire group through planned and impromptu activities.
Early Friday morning, August 22, the group returns to North Campus to move into
residence halls and begin orientation.
Costs
The cost to participate in POST is $260 per person. This fee covers
the costs of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for 5 days,
transportation (as required), project and safety supplies, housing,
scheduled evening activities, and staffing costs. POST wants you to
attend, and for that reason, financial scholarships are available. For
more information on financial assistance, please check the box
indicating this on the Registration Form. Do not send money—all trip
fees will be billed to your Cornell University bursar account.
Housing
In years past, the POST program has been housed off campus at a local school.
This year due to a large-scale construction project, the school is unable to host
the program, and POST will be housed on campus. You will have access to a gym,
shower and kitchen facilities. Bring a sleeping bag - you'll be sleeping on the
floor and sharing living quarters with other POST participants and leaders.
POST participants are expected to stay with their group and program at all times.
Due to scheduling, staffing and supervision, POST staff cannot accommodate individual
requests for appointments, errands, or any non-scheduled or non-POST events.
POST also does not allow participants to return of they leave the program (overnight).
If a participant has an obligation or need to leave the program during the week,
you may not return to the program.
For now, enjoy your remaining weeks of summer and get ready for an amazing POST
experience. See you soon in Ithaca!
