Cornell Companions is a pet visitation program sponsored by the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University. In September 2000, a partnership was begun with the Cornell Public Service Center to give "petless" undergraduates the opportunity to visit a local nursing home, school, and/or hospital with a community member's pet.
The program aims to promote the scientifically-proven health benefits of the
human-animal bond, while simultaneously increasing town-gown relations by establishing
lasting relationships between Cornell students and Ithaca community members.
