First Book Cornell is part of a national network of First Book Advisory
Boards who provide new books to children in need in communities across the
country. Comprised of student volunteers from Cornell University, First
Book Cornell works to promote and facilitate the distribution of new books
to literacy programs in the Ithaca and greater Tompkins County area.
Since 2002, First Book Cornell has distributed almost 9500 books to local
programs serving low-income children. The books we grant go directly to
the kids to start their own personal library.
Our mission is to give children from low-income families the opportunity
to read and own their first new books.
