Description: Scholarship applications are now being accepted for the Summer 2008 Institute on Philathropy and Voluntary Service, a nonprofit internship and academic program for undergraduate students. The Institute is ideal for undergraduate student leaders who are engaged in service programs on and off their campuses. All majors and fields of study are welcome. As part of the Institute experience, students will attend exclusive events and participate in hands-on activities including developing a mission statement, planning service projects and organizing fundraising activities.

Agency: Hunger Action Network of New York State (HANNYS)
Description: HANNYS is a statewide anti-hunger coalition that combines grassroots organizing at the local level with state level research, education and advocacy to address to the root causes of hunger, including poverty. Founded in 1982, we are a not-for-profit organization comprised of emergency food programs, concerned citizen advocates, low-income individuals, community agencies and religious organizations. We are offering two intern programs:
    Policy Interns- work in one of the two Hunger Action Network offices either in Albany or Manhattan. Interns will work closely with staff composing research and assisting in the development of HANNYS college chapters. Policy interns must be able to work either in the NYC or the Albany office.
    Organizing Interns- work closely with their intern coordinator to develop a Hunger Action Network chapter on their campus. Interns will go through a training program at the end of the semester prior to their internship. Interns will recruit fellow students for the chapter, run an education campaign, and execute several fundraising events. Organizing interns will have the opportunity to found and lead a HANNYS chapter.
Our offices will work with universities so students may receive academic credit in accordance with hours logged. These internships will provide students with the training and experience needed to pursue careers in political organizing, advocacy, law and various non-profit work.

Description: AS/COA seek a current undergraduate, Masters student, or a recent graduate for a pad Spring 2008 internship working with the organization's website. Intern assignments include, but are not limited to: researching, writing, editing, copyediting, photo research and editing, and assisting with website updates and administrative tasks. The mission of AS/COA Online is to share news about AS/COA programs, publications, and events with members and the general public, as well as to serve as a forum for info related to the western hemisphere.

Agency: Dispositional Alternatives Program (D.A.P.) of Family and Children's Service of Ithaca

Description: D.A.P. is recruiting interns to start in January 2008. DAP is an innovative community-based case management and mentorship program serving at-risk youth (7-18) and their families. Our staff develop individualized plan for youth at risk of placement out of their home. During an internship with DAP you can participate in organized group activities, shadow staff during family and community meetings, take part in weekly team meetings, and transport kids to needed appointments and activities.
