- Bagging food and cleaning at the capital area food bank main warehouse in DC on January 6th, 1pm-4pm
- Pet adoption events via the Lost Dog Animal Rescue at the Petcos in Rockville, MD on January 5th, 1pm-4pm and Alexandria, VA on January 6th,1pm-4pm
- Produce bagging at the Arlington Food Assistance center on January 5th, 12pm - 3pm. The tasks include sorting and bagging produce, as well as some outdoor gleaning. The event will take place at the main warehouse for the Mid-Atlantic Gleaning Network (MAGNET), AFAC's main supplier, near Andrews Air Force Base.

Activity: Island Harvest, 40 Marcus Boulevard, Hauppauge, NY. Once again this year we will be helping Island Harvest prepare materials for their annual Coin Harvest Spring fundraiser. In addition, we will be collecting food and/or toiletry items so that Island Harvest can provide them to Long Islanders in need, particularly those impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
Part of our project will involve using a stapler so if you have one that you can bring to use, it would be most helpful! Suggested items for Sandy drive: "pop-top" cans of food, shelf stable milk, juice and water. Low sodium caned vegetables, soups and fruit. Canned meat, whole wheat pasta and cereal. Nutritional beverages such as Boost and Ensure. Personal care items.
Registration is required for this event by Thursday January 3rd. Children may attend if they are at least 5 years old. Part of our project will involve using a stapler so if you have one that you can bring to use, it would be most helpful! -
