An important work-study program to which Cornell University is committed is the America Reads/America Counts Challenge Program which is hosted at the Cornell Public Service Center. The federal government waives 100% of the wages of a work-study student to be paid from federal dollars if the student is employed as a reading or math tutor for children and youth in grades pre-K-9. This waiver has been expanded to include students employed as tutors in a family literacy program that provides services to families with preschool or elementary school children. If interested in having a tutor, download a job description request form for ARC/ACC tutors; if interested in having a REACH fellow, please contact Ben Ortiz (bao6@cornell.edu).
